Alive and kicking!

God must have other plans for me. I'm still alive and kicking. It appears my interpretation of what He said about time frames was off base. So, we're just taking things one day at a time. Thank you for your continuing prayers. I love you all very much.

Bridesmaids' reunion

bridesmaids reunion BrideNMaids91 I still don't know how to use this new editing thingy. The top picture was taken this past weekend when Barb Bollman (North Carolina), Cynthia Theiss (Palm Beach Gardens), Marlie Bollman (NC; I hope I spelled her name correctly) and Miriam Dady (local) came over for a visit. We thought it would be fun to see what 16 years can do for a girl's looks! The pic below is from Kyle and my weddin'. We're going to try and find somebody who can superimpose my sister Robin over Marlie . . .

Conserving natural resources

Since coming home from Hospice House on Saturday afternoon, I've had to conserve my energy -- which is very low. I'm experiencing the s-l-o-w-e-r side of life.

I took a few minutes to chuckle my way through a silly book my neighbor gave me. The book is call "bad dog," but it was made for people who love 'em. Here's a page that cracked me up.

Bucky and Charles I have no idea how to edit stuff on my page anymore, so please forgive this random layout.

We enjoyed a visit from Brandon and Betsy on Tuesday evening, Sept. 5. Then all heck broke loose on Wednesday. I had doctors' appointments all day long and didn't get home until around 6:30 p.m. Gahhhhh!  But the silver lining on that day was that our dear friend Sally Woodard stopped by and helped Mom Staples get some house keeping chores done. Surgical staples got removed from my left thigh on Thursday and I got to take my first shower in . . . I don't know how long. We have company coming into town today points north -- New Jersey and North Carolina. All friends of Kyles. With my hospital bed in the living room, things could get interesting.

Now it's time for my lovely shower and a long morning nap.

Home again, home again . . .

Yowzer! What a week! That entirely different pain in my left hip was caused by it being broken. The ball snapped off. So, the doctors did a partial hip replacement. My hip socket and femer were viable, so they put a new ball in with a pin. Pretty awesome. I was up and hobbling along the hospital hallway in a couple of days. Then I got released to Big Bend Hospice on Monday, so they could get my pain medications under control. I was feeling so good that they let me come home today. I'm a little tired right now, so I'll talk more later.

Home Sweet Home

I'm back home and loving it! The doctors did a fantastic piece of work--they removed the glob and supported my spinal cord with this really cool titanium scaffolding. They gave me a negative of their handiwork, which some of you guys have seen already.

My wonderful husband stayed with me in the hospital every night and slept a little in between helping me relieve my bladder every three hours or so.

We checked out on Monday just before lunch and when we got home we immediately began trying to configure out a way to position my aching body. We also called Hospice to request a hospital bed, which was delivered before the sun went down on Monday. How cool is that?

Mom Staples went to BB & B and found two sets of really soft cottom jersey knit twin sheet sets twith pillow cases (pink and pale lavender). Then we folded over a mattress pad and laid it across the part of the bed where my operation incision would be. Good idea. I had to change night gowns and/or fold/flip the mattress pad 5 times during the night! The wound is still draining. Tomorrow morning I will be going to the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (TOC) to have the dressing changed.

My left hip and thigh still hurt, but in an entirely different way than before the operation. Before the operation I was feeling sciatica pain. Now, sheesh, I don't know WHAT the problem is now.  I have a bunch more doctors' appointments coming up, so I hope to get some answers soon.

In the meantime, THANK ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE PRAYED FOR ME, VISITED, SENT FLOWERS, PREPARED MEALS, ETC.  I FEEL YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE AND AM SO GRATEFUL. I hear that my friend, Miss Miriam Dady has set up a system for volunteers. If you'd like to pitch in, please email her at miriam.dady@yahoo.com and let her know you'd like to help out.

Ten Q Veddy Mudge (which rhymes with fudge, which tastes so awfully good, which rhymes with nudge, which . . .) Oh, what ever! Where's the chocolate!!!
