I'm back home and loving it! The doctors did a fantastic piece of work--they removed the glob and supported my spinal cord with this really cool titanium scaffolding. They gave me a negative of their handiwork, which some of you guys have seen already. My wonderful husband stayed with me in the hospital every night and slept a little in between helping me relieve my bladder every three hours or so. We checked out on Monday just before lunch and when we got home we immediately began trying to configure out a way to position my aching body. We also called Hospice to request a hospital bed, which was delivered before the sun went down on Monday. How cool is that? Mom Staples went to BB & B and found two sets of really soft cottom jersey knit twin sheet sets twith pillow cases (pink and pale lavender). Then we folded over a mattress pad and laid it across the part of the bed where my operation incision would be. Good idea. I had to change night gowns and/or fold/flip the mattress pad 5 times during the night! The wound is still draining. Tomorrow morning I will be going to the Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (TOC) to have the dressing changed. My left hip and thigh still hurt, but in an entirely different way than before the operation. Before the operation I was feeling sciatica pain. Now, sheesh, I don't know WHAT the problem is now. I have a bunch more doctors' appointments coming up, so I hope to get some answers soon. In the meantime, THANK ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE PRAYED FOR ME, VISITED, SENT FLOWERS, PREPARED MEALS, ETC. I FEEL YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE AND AM SO GRATEFUL. I hear that my friend, Miss Miriam Dady has set up a system for volunteers. If you'd like to pitch in, please email her at miriam.dady@yahoo.com and let her know you'd like to help out.
